The tax limit on men were increased from 110000 to 145000 an increase of 40000 where as tax limit on women increased from 145000 to 180000

While ideally the tax limit sould have been made 1,75000 for both for the simple observation a women earning is likely have an higher earning sppouse supportinig a higher lifestyle while a man woul ldnot have anyone supporting his lifestyle and has more legal and social responsibilities on money .

Frankly there is no reason for this gender gap on taxes . IT does not really provide an any benfit and removal of the distinction between men and women would have made the equality a more legal contruct as well.

The notion that men and women should be treated equally woul dhave received a boost .

However the important point to note is that the gender GAP has narrowed both in absolute terms and in relative terms

In abolute terms the gender gap reduced from 35000 to 30000

But in % terms this gender gap has reduced from a little over 24%( 35000/145000)  too now a a little under 17% ( 30000/180000) .

I hope this is the sign of times to come and that we shall see the gender gap reduce to Zero in next three years .

In a related note one saw an allocation of 7200 Crores to women and Child ministery . Surely a mens ministery with a modest allocation 300 to 500 crores can easily be formed to ensure the 21 point agenda of mens welfare.
